Notetakers and Proctors

Disability Resources hires in-class note-takers and exam proctors for students in need of their services.

Note-takers

Students with permanent or temporary disabilities may, if qualified, be provided with a note-taker by the University. As a note-taker, you will be employed by Disability Resources (DR) to take notes for the student(s) with a disability.

If you are interested in being a note-taker, you can check in with DR in Cornerstone. For first time note-takers, turn in an example of your notes along with the completed application at the beginning of the semester. You will also need to provide your course schedule so that you can be matched with students needing note-takers in their classes. Note-takers most often take notes for classes in which they are enrolled; occasionally, they may take notes in additional classes. If you want to continue as a note-taker in subsequent semesters, notify DR and provide your current course schedule.

Proctors

Students with appropriate documentation may, if qualified, be allowed to take exams with extended time or in test rooms with reduced distractions. Proctors hired by Disability Resources (DR) monitor these exams.  Professional behavior is required at all times.

If you are interested in being a proctor, you can pick up an application at DR in Cornerstone. Complete the application and provide your course schedules to DR at the beginning of each semester. DR will match proctors with appropriate exam times so as not to conflict with your classes. Proctors will not monitor exams for courses in which they are currently enrolled. Failure to meet your obligations as a proctor will disqualify you in the future.
